Hundreds of women in Nembe Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have pledged their support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in the 2027 general elections.
The women made the commitment during a grassroots sensitisation and mobilisation tour of Nembe City and Opu-Nembe organised by the socio-cultural group, Nembe Se Unites.
The exercise, tagged Ama-Ama (Village-to-Village) Tour for PBAT, is aimed at mobilising women and youths in rural communities to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
Speaking during the tour, the President and Convener of Nembe Se Unites, Mrs Beatrice Numonyo Awululu, said the initiative was designed to take the re-election campaign to the grassroots and secure the support of women across Nembe communities.
Awululu, an APC member, said Nembe and Bayelsa East had benefited from projects executed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) under the leadership of its Managing Director, Dr Samuel Ogbuku.
She maintained that the women were convinced that supporting Tinubu’s re-election would enable his administration to deliver more development projects to the area.
She described women as an influential force in politics, adding that members of the group had been sensitised on the need to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate actively in the 2027 elections.
According to her, the village-to-village campaign was also intended to encourage political unity and collective action among women.
She said, “The theme is Ama-Ama Tour, which is from village to village to preach the gospel for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election. As a card-carrying member of the APC, I am here to tell Nembe women and youths that one good turn deserves another.
“Look at the situation: the civil servants are happy. Also, in Bayelsa East, we are enjoying the benefits of the NDDC, which our son, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, heads. Through the NDDC, President Bola Tinubu has done well. He is going to do more for our people.”
Awululu commended Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri; the NDDC Managing Director, Ogbuku; High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo; and Chief Dr Kojo Sam for their support for Tinubu’s re-election campaign.
Also speaking, the Coordinator of the Ama-Ama Tour for PBAT in Opu-Nembe, Mrs Seiyefa Clinton, said the mobilisation exercise was aimed at strengthening support for the APC and President Tinubu.
She explained that the women were reviving a traditional practice in which the Nembe people collectively deliberate on important issues and reach a common position.
Clinton said the women had agreed to speak with one voice and mobilise their communities to vote for the APC and Tinubu in 2027.
Similarly, the Secretary-General of Nembe Se Unites, Mrs Abel IkioMuna Faith, said the group was encouraging women across the area to unite behind its grand patron, Chief Dr Kojo Sam, to work towards Tinubu’s re-election.
The group’s leader in Nembe City, Mrs Inigoni Gamage, and the Women Leader of Okoroma, Mrs Fakuma Ederson Zebidi, expressed confidence that the extensive grassroots mobilisation would strengthen the APC’s chances in the 2027 presidential election.
They said the level of support being built by the group would make it difficult for opposition parties to gain significant political ground in the area.
